It turns out that Heihachi, in fact, survived the explosion, and now pledges to find out and "break the neck of the one who started this ridiculous tournament!". A few months later, the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 is announced. The explosion, however, revives Heihachi's father Jinpachi Mishima from his 44-year slumber chained up beneath the Temple and proceeds to reclaim the Mishima Zaibatsu. They quickly overwhelm him and self-destruct, leaving Heihachi seemingly dead. Then, Kazuya turns into Devil Kazuya and escapes, leaving Heihachi to deal with the Jack-4s by himself. Initially, Kazuya and Heihachi fight the Jack-4s as a team, but eventually, Kazuya throws Heihachi across the room as soon as he notices that Heihachi is getting tired. Shortly after, several Jack-4 robots invade the compound, programmed to take Heihachi's life. However, Jin defeats both of his predecessors and flies away, leaving the latter two unconscious. Tekken 5 also allowed players to customize their fighter for the first time, allowing them to change the colors of their outfits, buy additional costumes (only available to a few characters), and equip them with items by using money gained from playing the Story, Survival, Time Attack, the side-story Devil Within, and Arcade Battle modes.Following the conclusion of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Heihachi Mishima defeated his son Kazuya Mishima and led him to Hon-Maru Temple, planning to let both Kazuya and his grandson, Jin Kazama, battle and steal their respective " Devil Genes". The home version is a collector’s edition of sorts, as it includes the arcade versions of Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, and StarBlade (as a mini-game at start up). It also retains its wall juggling concept from Tekken 4, but the element is effectively less easy to abuse and easier to defend against. For example, a move with jumping properties, such as a hopkick, will be completely invulnerable during most of its animation time to all of an opponent’s low attacks.
New to Tekken 5 is the crush system which affects the vulnerability of a character while they attack. Tekken 5 incorporates a faster, more fluid fighting system, improved graphics, returning characters, and some of the Tekken series’ trademark infinite stages.
